BCRRF grants announced for 32 fire-affected NSW councils

Thirty-two NSW councils have successfully applied for Bushfire Community Recovery and Resilience Fund (BCRRF) Stream 1 grants and will be contacted soon about their payments.

Announcing the
$100,000 or $250,000 payments this week, Federal Agriculture, Drought and
Emergency Management Minister David Littleproud underlined the importance of locally
led recovery.

“It’s
through the work and ideas of local communities that recovery is achieved and
resilience is strengthened,” he said.

More than
$25 million is being provided through the BCRRF (jointly funded by the
Commonwealth and NSW governments under Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements
and administered by Resilience NSW) to promote community well-being, social and
future disaster resilience.

Applications
for Stream 2 funding applications opened on 29 September, with community
groups, councils and not-for-profits eligible for grants for social recovery
and preparedness projects between $20,000 and $300,000.

Grants will be assessed at a regional level using Regional Panels to maximise the recovery support to communities across local government boundaries.
