President’s Update – 10 June 2025

I’m excited to announce the 2025 National Local Roads, Transport and Infrastructure Congress will be held in Bendigo in regional Victoria from 11-12 November.

Registrations for the Congress are now open, and we are offering a special early bird discount of 20 per cent off during the month of June.

We look forward to working closely with our host council, the City of Greater Bendigo, to bring this event to their town and showcase their local region.

We have heard your feedback, and at this year’s Congress our program will have a greater focus on road and transport issues as well as innovation and community infrastructure.  There will also be an opportunity to hear success stories from other councils, and to share new ideas.

Stay tuned for more information about the Congress, as we announce the line-up of speakers and a comprehensive program in the coming months.

2025 NGA and Ministers forum

With only two and a half weeks before the 2025 NGA, I remind you to attend the Ministerial Engagement Forum on 27 June, which will be a major highlight on the final day of the NGA.

So far, we have several Federal Ministers confirmed for this not-to-be-missed event, including the Minister for Skills and Training Andrew Giles.

Hosted by high-profile political commentator and ABC presenter David Speers, the forum will provide a unique and important opportunity to engage with key Ministers and learn about their vision for local government over the next three years.

Don’t miss out, book your tickets now.

New ALGA website

Finally, we recently launched ALGA’s new website to bring you the latest information from around the nation.

A key feature of the new website is a detailed overview of our key policy and advocacy priorities as well as updated sections with the latest news, events and submissions.
