New Covid-19 vaccine resources to support aged care workers

The national Covid-19 vaccination program for residents in
aged care facilities is nearly complete, and the focus is now shifting to aged
care workers.

The Federal Department of Health has advised that aged care
workers are able to get their Covid-19 vaccination now, in line with medical
advice. Aged care workers under 50 years will be offered a Pfizer vaccine and
those aged 50 and over an AstraZeneca vaccine.

The Covid-19 eligibility checker provides information on available vaccine clinics in different regions.

This includes general practices, state and territory
vaccination clinics and Commonwealth vaccination clinics (GP respiratory
clinics). In some cases, aged care workers aged under 50 can access a Pfizer
vaccine at dedicated clinics, currently only available in Sydney.

A suite of resources, including factsheets and posters, including in 20 languages, is available for councils to download and promote.

The department is also encouraging local governments to share a video, available at Covid-19 vaccine rollout to aged care and disability care workers in Australia – YouTube, on social channels.
