Early Learning Matters Week showcasing council-run centres

Local councillors, along with state and federal MPs, are being encouraged to take part in Early Learning Matters Week starting on 3 August.

The event aims to give policymakers a first-hand glimpse of the important work of early childhood education and care providers, a sector in which local government is involved in every state.

In 2019, during Early Learning Matters Week, educators around the country welcomed more than 50 parliamentarians – including the Prime Minister, Scott Morrison – to early learning and care services.

This gave
educators the chance to explain and demonstrate the sophisticated, complex
nature of their work with young children.

During the
week, staff are also encouraged to highlight their work to local and online
communities.
